I discovered this cafe when I first moved back to Boston in 2017 when I was searching for the West Roxbury library on Centre Street. I was delighted to find out that the owner, Miriam, is Nicaraguan and her coffee is imported from her family farm in Jinotega, Nicaragua. I couldn’t wait to meet her and tell her about my ties to Nicaragua. In the summer of 2020, I decided to paint their beautiful, award winning patio. For taking up space on her patio, I thought I would give Miriam my Nicaraguan cards as a thank you. When I gave them to her, she immediately said that she wanted to sell them and without taking a commission. She also hung the painting of the patio in the cafe. I am thrilled and honored.
The coffee is delicious, by the way! I highly recommend it!
And you can feel really good about drinking their coffee. Miriam has a number of projects going that help the workers of their farm including education and health care projects. It is really wonderful.
