I loved my cats who were brother and sister. They defied conventional thought. They were so affectionate and attentive to me, they always kept me company and came when I called them. Marbles was the sweetest thing and never hurt a flea. Latch, on the other hand, was a holy terror, terrorizing his sister and my friends who came to visit but he was wonderful to me. While I slept in bed, Latch liked to walk on my head and Marbles enjoyed going up and down as I breathed while she lay on my stomach. One time my sister came to visit me in Michigan and we went up north to Traverse City for a trip in the summer. We brought food for breakfast with us. The first morning I broke into the goodies and reached into the shopping bag out came Latch’s leather mouse. He must have put it there so we wouldn’t forget about him while we were away! I thought that was the cutest thing. He was a real character. Another time, I went to bed late on a very cold winter night. I suddenly noticed Marbles was not with us. I got up and searched and searched for her but to no avail. I was frantic. Latch kept hanging around the front door meowing. I finally realized he was trying to tell me something. I opened the door and there was Marbles outside at the door. Thank God Latch said something- she could have frozen overnight.
